Salary Range: $40,000 – $50,000 per year (Excluding performance-based incentives)
About NOCS
The North Okanagan Cycling Society (NOCS) is a vibrant community organization dedicated to trail stewardship, mountain bike advocacy, and organizing premier regional cycling programs and community events. We are seeking an energetic, organized, and strategic leader to step into the role of Executive Director to oversee our day-to-day operations and lead NOCS into its next chapter of growth.
Position Overview
The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of NOCS business operations, focusing heavily on community membership growth, fundraising, grant management, and strategic marketing/communications. Reporting directly to the NOCS Board of Directors, the Executive Director works to improve community awareness of NOCS, establish sustainable corporate sponsorships, and manage the administrative foundation of the society.
Primary Responsibilities
Business & Administration: Manage day-to-day operations, including handling public inquiries, monitoring the general email inbox, overseeing society compliance, and maintaining key land-use agreements and insurance renewals.
Financial Oversight: Collaborate closely with the Finance Committee and Treasurer to develop annual budgets, track expenditures, and report financial metrics to the Board.
Fundraising & Grant Management: Actively source, draft, and submit grant applications. Administer and grow the corporate sponsorship program, ensuring full delivery on sponsor commitments.
Membership Services: Proactively implement strategies to drive year-over-year membership growth, engagement, and retention.
Programs & Events Support: Assist the Program and Events committees with logistics, permits, equipment coordination, merchandise inventory, and volunteer recruitment for community events.
Communications & Marketing: Oversee public relations, publish regional newsletters, and guide the direction of social media strategies to align directly with the NOCS brand.
Governance Support: Attend monthly board meetings and coordinate the Annual General Meeting (AGM) by preparing agendas, status reports, and tracking operational follow-up actions.
Requirements & Key Competencies
Proven experience in non-profit management, business administration, public relations, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in fundraising, grant writing, and securing/managing corporate sponsorships.
Strong financial literacy, specifically regarding budget drafting and revenue tracking.
Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and a strong grasp of modern marketing and social media coordination.
Highly organized self-starter capable of managing multiple projects and fluid seasonal workloads autonomously.
Must reside in or near the Greater Vernon area, possess a reliable home office setup, and be available for flexible scheduling, including occasional evening board meetings and weekend events.
